Joe,

"I want to tell you that it is really a pleasure to help a fellow collector and more so when we are talking of IH halftracks."

Here's a crappy pic of it at the convention in 1948 IDF markings. I had already replaced the pulpit they removed.
I forgot to tell you, they had turned it into an 81 mm mortar carrier.
That will be staying as it's part of it's pedigree, they did a very nice job and I'm not a millionaire who can afford to change it back any time soon.
Plus it's pretty interesting. I found a mortar / bi-pod and about 70 mortar rounds to fill some of the storage tubes.

I'll probably be able let you know what the other parts look like by tomorrow evening.

Regards,

John

Hi Joe,

Thank you very much for getting back to me..... and in a language I can understand........ :-)

Wasn't sure if I had done things correctly in my attempt to contact you.

A friend had shown me the site with the information and pics about the AMVCA M-5 restoration.

Very nice job. I really liked the shop you guys used and all the help that showed up to work on it.

We should all be so lucky, I have a skid steer as my assistant.

The reason I contacted you is I have an ex Israeli M9A1 here in the states I've been working on for the last 7 years.

I've got it about 90% complete, with mostly original parts. Pics below.

I just finally got all the pieces to replace the winch, bumper, pto and controls the IDF removed.

My biggest challenge is now down to finding the rear luggage racks.

In some of the pictures on your site I saw a couple halftracks with the racks still present.

I think they may have been referred to as parts machines but I am not sure as I was trying to translate the text.

My question is, do you know of a pair of the rear racks that might be available? Maybe off of one of the machines I saw?

And if so, could you or someone help in getting them purchased and shipped to the US?

I would not expect any help to be free and would pay up front and trust in another MV hobbyists honesty to get this done.

Maybe I can help you guys with something here in the US.

If this isn't possible, what are the chances of getting some good pictures and dimensions of the racks and their parts so I could build myself a pair?

Let me know and thanks again for responding.

Best regards.

Joe,

"Giant Armadillo," that is a very fitting name.

I found those pics of your resto while looking at the A.A.C.V.M. site this morning, I am so jealous.

Also found a photo of a couple of very gorgeous women in one of the other posts.

I think that's the nicest IH I have ever seen, you guys should be proud.

The pics will also help me get some things correct on mine.

I wasn't positive if the IH had oil pan armor, it's not listed in the TM's and I have only seen one pic in Europe of what I suspected was pan armor for the Red Diamond but was not installed so I couldn't be sure.

Mine is missing..... just another thing I need to track down. At least is isn't as visible as the rear racks.

Off to do some work.

Regards,

John

Me voy a trabajar-
Saludos"

Thanks,

I sure don't want to start an international incident by saying something wrong in Spanish.
