Hello all, my first post/question here (see also introduction: http://foro.aacvm.com.ar/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=6414&p=50192#p50192 )

My question is where this picture came from? it is clearly a Dutch contract series 2 Ford GP, the little Dutch flag, (red/white/blue) is in front of the number, in 1941 the Dutch army ordered some Ford GP's and they were delivered in the east indies,(Indonesia) for the KNIL, and to Curacao and Aruba, so maybe the picture was taken there?

See also; http://www.overvalwagen.com/jeeps.html

Maybe Diego will know where he found the picture?

Many thanks,

Alex

Here is my own Ford GP, fitted out as a British Airborne version, they only used the GP's for training, not in Battle!

The Dutch Army did use them in battle against the japanese, probably the first army to use Jeeps in a military conflict in the world.

Alex

Mariano, yes in 1941 the Dutch army bought these Ford GP's they ofcourse could not be delivered to the Netherlands, as the Germans were already there.

Here a picture of the Dutch acquisition committee, in the Ford factory, looking at the GP's being built (Picture via Jim Gilmore)

Can't find the names right now, but was posted some time ago on the US G503 forum.

Martin,

Nice!! the Veterans are going quick now, soon there will be none left from the 2nd world war, we are very priveliged to have known some!

Here a BEF and Dunkirk veteran, who rode my Norton Big 4 in 2010, he also almost started it, but I didn't want him to break an ankle!

Hello Lex sorry cant find the pic yet let me try again in a few days perhaps you will have notices on this.
Likes Wally Dugan post war sales catalogues ,me to, there are no many jeeps just a few ones.
I make you a question, what about R.A.F numbers in motorcicles from what part did they take ,engine, frame ?
I think maybe on jeeps there were from body I am looking about this, have you seen AACVM research center, everything moves around British Airborne jeeps very interesting.!!
