jeep4life escribió:Thank you Ben and Cuz for your advice and tips. I did adjusted the float as according to the pictures and measurement. While I was doing the float adjustment, I also took the opportunity to clean a sidedraft while the carburator disassembled. I blow out all holes with high compressor air gun, I replaced a strainer which I found some dirts in it, replaced seat, needle, spring, and pin. put float back on and screw down sidedraft to the body.
Assembled a carb back on the enginee, connected back fuel line and started the enginee. the enginee act a little hesitate, then I primed the sidedraft with carb spray cleaner, then the enginee started. Now, the enginee sounds very good and idle seems to be smooth and clear of popping noise. I drove a Jeep around the blocks for awhile and let it seat idle for awhile as well to see if something might will happen. so far, nothing's happen. enginee runs smooth, idle sounds okay, exhaust pipe has no popping noise. I also adjusted fuel injected screw for smooth idling as well. before I started the enginee, I screwed fuel screw all the way back in and then back it out 2 and half turns. start the enginee and adjust the screw.
Anyway, thank you guys for helping, I'm really appreciated. Tomorrow I will start a Jeep again and see if it will start up right away or if I have to start fixing carb. all over again. wish me luck.

the idle mixture screw is a large brass screw mounted on the cast base of the carb. it has a coil spring wrapped around it. can't miss it.
the "depth" of the screw detemines the fuel/air mixture during idle speeds and slightly above (to approx 1000-1200 rpm). it accomplishes this by restricting the flow of areated fuel below the butterfly valve in conjuction with the pure air flow traveling to the intake manifold.
to adjust it, make sure the rest of the engine is in "tune" condition.....valve adj, spark plugs adj and condition, distributor points and condensor, timing, and a bunch of other stuff everyone will tell you needs to be perfect before you start messing with the carb. in a few words, make sure everything is right and consult you manual tune up guide for the complete list.
if you want to start from scratch, stop the engine and turn the screw clockwise until it just seats. STOP IMMEDIATLY. DO NOT FORCE THE SCREW FURTHER IN.
turn counterclock 1.5 turns. restart the engine and bring the engine to full working temperature. if you have one, hook up a tachometer, or as some would insist.....hook up a vac gauge. careful, if confronted, do not struggle, just go and buy a vac gauge and hook it up. it is a much easier path than fighting the omnipitent word of the vac gang. ok enough of the kidding and back to the tuning....move the screw in both directions 1/8 of a turn at a time or less until you achieve the highest r.p.m. some of us (me) at this point like to turn the screw in 1/4 of a turn to make sure the mixture is on the lean side, but really, it is optional.
this is a lot of reading for a little info, but i hope it helps.
