Publicado: 01 Ago 2010, 21:13El siguiente grafico describe los cambios que sufrieron los asientos durante los años que se fabricaron los MB y GPW.
WILLYS-OVERLAND MB TYPE SEAT CUSHIONS
FIRST STYLE:
Start of production: November 1941. Serial Number: MB 100000 .
Seat Cushion: The cushion had horsehair for padding, and a zippered pouch. The zipper started at the left rear, and went to the right front.
Back Pads: One inch thick with horse hair for padding, and three canvas tabs on each side to attach the back pad to the seat back frame.
SECOND STYLE:
Start of production: Date in 1942 unknown. Serial Number: Unknown
Seat Cushion: Same as first style, only the zipper started at the left front and went to the right rear.
Back Pads: Same as first style.
THIRD STYLE:
Start of production: About mid November 1942 , Serial Number: MB 185700
Seat Cushions: Driver's side. The cushion had springs with horse hair on top for padding and the zippered pouch that started at the left rear, and went to the right front. Passenger's side. Same as the driver's side.
Back Pads: Each back pad had enclosed springs, with horse hair on top for padding, and had three canvas tabs to attach the back pad to the seat back frame.
FOURTH STYLE:
Start of production: About the end of March, 1944 . Serial Number: About MB 316000
Seat Cushions: The Driver's and Passenger's were the same as the third style.
Back Pads: Again the same as the third style, except the canvas side tab went all the away around the seat back frame to attach the pad to the seat back thus eliminating the three tabs. This style was carried into production of the M38 Jeep back rest.
FIFTH STYLE:
Start of production: About April, 1944 . Serial Number: About MB 321000
Seat Cushions: The springs were "S" shaped, with horse hair on top for padding and were covered on the top and sides with canvas. This syle had no zippers.
Back Pads: Same as the fourth style.
FORD GPW TYPE SEAT CUSHIONS AND BACK PADS
FIRST STYLE:
Start of production: January, 1942. Serial Number: GPW 1 .
Seat Cushions: The cushion had curled cattle hair, was rubber coated, making a two inch thick pad There was a bottom pouch with a zipper that started at left front, and went to right rear.
Back Pads: One inch thick curled cattle hair, also rubber coated. There were three canvas tabs on each side to attach the back pad to the seat back frame.
SECOND STYLE:
Start of production: About mid December, 1942 . Serial Number: About registration number USA 20193970 .
Seat Cushions: The cushion had tufted hair padding, on top of the springs, with a zippered pouch that started at the left front, and went to right rear.
Back Pads: One inch thick curled cattle hair , also rubber coated. There were three canvas tabs on each side to attach the back pad to the seat back frame.
THIRD STYLE:
Start of production: About May, 1944 . Serial Number: About registration number USA 20538240 .
Seat Cushions: Tufted hair padding on top of "S" shaped springs, and covered on the top and sides with canvas.
*Back Pads: Same as the second style.
