Hello Jean Marie,
I wrote your data down but than could not remember where it came from. From my GPW studies, your GPW shows to be from the Richmond, Ca. assembly plant. Normally there is nothing between W and the first number digit. There may have been a new guy doing the frame stamping the day your GPW was assembled so he added the star before the number. Your GPW was in British hands at one time. The UK guys can better explain the numbers on the brass data plate. Tom

Hello,
The last photo was a big help.
The original serial number was *GPW 38243*. It had become hard to read so someone has restamped just the number part after moving it to the left a little over-lapping the GPW.
From my GPW studies and databases, Your GPW 38243 should have come from the Dallas, Tx. assembly plant.
Dudas tambien..y error en el ultimo numero que es un 5.
Mi impresion es que hubo jeeps "raros" y que ellos no quieren admitir, Ford o Willys nada mas..,que por otra parte fueron el 90% .El resto ,los Salad no los quieren reconocer por un tema de imagen,y vaya a saber que mas , para nosotros seria algo comun pero no para ellos..
¿Como es que nunca se hablo o por lo menos yo no lo lei que en el contrato 2275 del 43 hubo 10.000 jeeps Ford Y Wlillys reacondicionados?
